April 20, 2012.

I’m being a good girl and editing my next book (The Demon Within) this week, so I’ll show you a few pictures of my son’s cat.

The cat decided to lay in the sink this morning.

The only problem is that the sink drips.

So the lazy cat lays in the sink for a free, no work bath. Every ten seconds or so, he licks up the water after it falls on him. A two for one deal – clean and he doesn’t have to get up to get a drink of water.

It’s hilarious to watch the cat drink water out of a running faucet. He will duck his whole head underneath, but only stops when his dainty paws get wet. Silly cat.

The other cat sits by watching the process. I haven’t decided if she is jealous or thinks the other cat is a moron.

(Ignore the woman in the mirror. There is no woman in the mirror.)

Where does the time go?

I’d like to think I manage my time well. I make lists. Lots and lots of lists then mark off the items once they are done.

It doesn’t seem to help. I don’t seem to make any progress.

I get up every morning at 5 or 5:30 at the latest.

First thing I do is let the dog out.

Feed and water the cats.

Feed and water the dog.

Clean the cat litter.

Let the dog back in the house.

Shower.

Do the dishes.

Do the laundry.

Sweep the floor.

Laugh at my attempt to dust.

Pack lunch for dinner.

Read emails.

Walk on the treadmill for 15-20 minutes.

Then go to work at 7 or 7:10.

I then read emails at my lunch and breaks.

I get home at 5:15 to 5:30.

An hour to make supper.

A few more minutes to eat and talk with hubby (who then goes outside to do ‘man’ things.).

Read emails. Get up to let dog out. Read an email. Get up to let dog in. Read an email. Get up… you get the idea. Sigh.

And then I loose track of my day. This is my writing time, and I never seem to get any writing done!

My son and hubby come home and we talk for twenty minutes. When I look at the time, it’s 11 or 11:30.

I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong, so I decided to put myself on a timer.

I’m giving myself 1 hour on the internet then it’s time to work. I cut 5 shows that I DVR.

I can’t cut my reading time down anymore as I hardly read anymore.

So, we’ll see how it goes.

How about you? What is your biggest time suck and how do you break the habit?

April 14, 2012.

The cat is already training.

Let me back up. We got a new sectional couch (don’t ask). It’s slightly L shaped. Our house is set up with the living room and kitchen only separated by a pair of pocket doors hidden in the walls and never used.

Anyway, the cat starts running from the kitchen to gain speed. If you remember the old cartoons where they run in place with smoke flying, you can picture my son’s cat as it gains traction on our wooden floors. It jumps from the floor to the couch. Runs along the bottom cushions, then along the back cushions…yes, sideways…before running along the top cushions. The black devil…er…new kitty, then jumps off the couch onto the chase we didn’t put away yet. Runs along that and then leaps four feet to the recliner chair.

Where it belly flops on the floor because it missed.

Then barely pauses before it starts all over again. My gosh! The energy!

I would video tape it to show you, it’s hilarious, but I don’t think I would be fast enough to catch the little booger.

April 09, 2012.

The day has finally come.

The world has ended.

Hell has frozen over.

And I have officially published my first novel!

In celebration, I’m doing a giveaway this week. All you have to do is become a follower of my blog. It’s that easy. I will be picking the winner on Friday for a $10 Amazon gift certificate.

If you haven’t see it yet, check it out!

Power always comes at a price…

A woman with too many secrets dares to risk everything to claim the pack destined to be hers…if she can keep them all alive long enough.

Everything changed when Raven, a natural born conduit, accidentally walks in on a slave auction. She only wants a night out with her friends before her next case as a paranormal liaison with the police. Instead, she ends up in possession of a shifter and his guardian. When your touch can kill, living with two touchy-feely shifters is a disaster waiting to happen.

To make matters worse, a vicious killer is on the loose. As mutilated bodies turn up, she can’t help fear that her new acquisitions are keeping secrets from her. The strain of keeping everyone alive, not to mention catching the killer, pushes her tenuous control of her gift and her emotions to their limits. If they hope to survive, they must work together as a pack or risk becoming hunted themselves.

April 09, 2012.

So, as you’ve probably guessed from my absence last week, I failed.

I was not able to resist the urge to edit. It took all week.

But the good news is that the book is done.
I’m releived. I don’t think I could read it one more time. <shiver>

My son also had a big birthday last week.

18

My emotions switched from excited to depressed all week.

Now when I tell people his age, I feel old.

They say good things come with age…I just have to figure it out.

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Gosh, I wish I had another day (or seven) to get caught up on things.

We went away Friday and returned Saturday night.

We left enough cat food out to feed an army. Three times the normal amount for a day.

Well, it seems that the cats found the supply inadequate.

They went on their own Easter Egg hunt.

The sneaky cats opened a closet door to get to the bag.

Here one of the culprits now.

Or, we have really big mice.

Have a great Easter and eat lots of food!
