Please welcome guest author G. D. Ogan.
Guy is here today talking about his first book Immortal Relations and has generously offered a $5 Amazon gift card to one lucky reader.
Thank you for being here, Guy. Tell us about your book. Immortal Relations explores the inter-personal relationships among good vampires, who safeguard humans from criminals and “out-of-control” vampires, who only wish to feed on humans. Most of the “guardian vampires“ started as victims of the out-of-control vampires. A unique feature of the story is the way the good vampires acquire the blood they need. It comes from funeral homes, one of the many corporations they own. Both Gary and his son, Adam (born as a full vampire in book one) have beating hearts. There is a genetic reason for this which really won’t become evident until book three.
And Guy tells me that we are the first to learn about this tidbit! How Cool!
What initially sparked the idea for your book? My mother had said some things when I was very young, “He is over there with that woman,” “He has had a child with that woman!” When asked, she would say nothing, but after both my parents died, I was cleaning out file cabinets and found a picture of my father in Prague, Czechoslovakia with a lady’s hand written note on the back, “I’ll always be waiting here (copy of picture on page two of the book!”). I put two and two together and that started the book.
What is your favorite character in your book and why? My favorite character in my book has to be Gary Logan, because he is me, or at least how I believe I would act and react to the situations presented in the book. There are characters I’d love to meet; I’d follow Magdalena Dvora’k to the ends of the Earth and through the portals of time, pledging my eternal love to her, if she would have me!
Brave man! The only way I’d want to meet my characters in real life was if I was guarenteed they would forget about me right after they left. I can’t take the chance they’d want revenge for what I’d put them through. lol
What was the hardest part of the book to write? When my character Gary is forced to bite his research physician friend, Roger, in order to save him from dying of Leukemia, that pain, even now, causes tears to flow. My many years in the military gave me such a profound love of those who serve their country with honor during war, that seeing the anguish on the face of Major Michal Zikoff when it is clear he had been broken, mentally, physically and spiritually, by not just the horrors of an unjust war, but having no way to get rid of the homicidal maniac under his command…seeing him break down in front of General Kolukov and his staff was heart rending to me!
How much of you ends up in your book? 110%…everything I’ve ever thought, said, prayed or dreamed about is in these two books. You could read just the first book and know me better than anyone ever has!
Tell the readers about yourself. I retired from the U.S.A.F. in 1988 and completed a second Masters Degree, had my own Attention Deficit Disorder Assessment Clinic (wrote a book on the subject, “Can Anyone Help My Child?”) while teaching at a College and a University (I had my own struggles with A.D.D.). Then went to work with the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice, retiring from my job as a Psychologist at a Prison, to care for my disabled mother when my father died.
Wow, you’ve sure had a full and interesting life. I bet you have all sorts of stories!
If I could be a paranormal creature, what would you be and why? Of course this one is easy, the guardian vampires in my books are so committed to the safety of mankind, I can only wish they were real, I’d volunteer in a “New York Second!”
I love this question. I think it can tell the reader so much about the author!
Cat or dog person? Both! We still grieve over the dogs and cats we’ve out-lived. I got a rescue Pit female who’d been abused by using her without any protection as a “hog dog” and got an eye gored, she didn’t see the car that hit her when her owner wouldn’t treat the eye wound and put her out! So she only has one eye and three legs, but is still so very sweet!
I’m a both kind of gal as well.
Where can we find you books? Currently, Immortal Relations, is available on AMAZON ($8.95 in print & $2.99 eBook, respectively). I hope to have the second book in the series, with the same main title and a sub-title of Love & War, out by this fall.
What other projects do you have in the works? I am almost finished with the second book in the Immortal Relations series Love & War and, OMG the action in that book is just pure NON-STOP! While the first book has the first birth of a full vampire in it, the second book has several full vampires born.
Blurb from Amazon:
When Gary Logan discovers an old black-and-white photograph of his father in Prague with a woman’s handwriting on the back, he flies there to investigate where his father worked while in Europe, only to meet and fall in love with a beautiful lady who he believes to be a vampire. In love with her, Gary is initiated into her coven of guardian vampires, beginning a journey of epic proportions.
Exciting, erotic, and full of heart-stopping action, Ogan’s debut novel turns human vampire lore on its head, with a symbiotic relationship between the species that deepens emotional connections to astonishing effect. But a coven of evil vampires bent on destroying the guardian vampires and feeding on the humans at will have other plans.
Gary’s full vampire son helps humans to almost wipe out the evil coven, beginning the ever-increasing relationship between vampires and humans. Adam then saves Great Britain from nuclear theft and attack; when their nemeses make one last-ditch effort in Russia to bring all of the peaceful societies down, Gary, Adam, and the military join forces to save the human species before their enemy’s plans can come to fruition.
So what about you? If you could meet any character from a book, would you? Who would it be?

Nice interview! And yeah, you’re right what a background Guy has!
Thanks Mart. With all the different things I’ve been involved with, due to length, we had to limit what I was able to say to about 10% of the list! My life has been an interesting and, at times, a ride…now if I could just find Magdalena and join the coven!

Thanks for coming by, Mart. And catching that darn typo that slipped through this morning.
Love the book cover for Immortal Relations! Very cool. Great blog post. I’ll put it on my TBR list.

The cover is cool, it was done by a local artist friend of mine, Doug Adam. He is working on the cover for the second book “Immortal Relations – Love & War.” We’re placing Gary’s face (in profile) up in the corner with the two ladies further back and the castle closer to the characters. At least that is what we decided at our meeting last week. I hope to have the second book out by the end of summer or early fall.
fascinating background. Best of luck on your first book and happy writing for the 2nd.
Thanks Daryl, a reader left a review, saying: “Being a bit of a vampire-phile, I find muself constantly searching for the next vampire series to reach out and grab, or, more appropriately, bite me. I believe I have found my holy grail of vampire novels…” Needless to say, I’m extremely pleased when someone get the meaning of the book!
Great interview.
Thanks Ella, I hope you get a chance to read the first book and later the second!
Your book sounds really good. I am always looking for new authors to read.

Thanks Brenda! Plese click Amazon’s reference in the reply above and you’ll be able to read the first few pages of the first book. I think it gets better from there forward but it gives the reader the background to the story! Just remember, it is an adult story – not for kids!
Awesome. And I’m an adult, lol.
Yes, I went to your blog site and saw that you also have good vampires and read the Lucifer short story as well – love your writing style!
Hey, thank you very much.
Great interview, Guy! Congratulations on your book! That cover is spooky cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Doug Adams is a local art student who I have become friends with. We got together on the design (I can draw stick figures, but that is about all). I leave the actual drawing to s/he who can! Doug will be famous someday I think!
What sparked your story is interesting to me. I find it very neat that you could take that discovery and use it to create what sounds like an awesome series. I’ll definitely check out your first book.
Wishing you continued success!
Thanks, there are a few relatives who are none to pleased about me “spilling the beans,” but I don’t see his tryst that way. A horrible war had just ended and in my view people all over the world were suffering from post tramatic stress (although it wasn’t known to be called that back then). If the love they shared did help them deal with that stress, then how could it have been evil. There was husband and wife stress to be sure, but no family break up and the closing of that relationship seemed to be one where no one got hurt. If there was a child produced (I found no real proof of that) I know Dad was an honorable man who would have made “arrangements” to care for both mother and child.
Book sounds wonderful and the cover is awesome! Great interview! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jennifer, glad you enjoyed the cover and interview…wish I could get you the book to read…I’d love your input!
I wanted to thank Guy for the interview and giveaway.
And thank everyone who participated.
For anyone who didn’t comment yet, you have a few hours before the contest closes.
Good luck!
Thanks for having me on your blog Stacey, I really enjoyed the comments. I’ll be happy to get the gift card headed to the “winner” as soon as picked! And thanks to the bloggers, I hope they’ll review “IMMORTAL RELATIONS” soon, and “IMMORTAL RELATIONS, LOVE & WAR” when released.
