Welcome to my site and the Angel vs Demon Blog hop!
The age old question for many romance readers is Angels or Demons. Which do you perfer?
As for me, I’m not picky. I like them both! I received the very first print copy of my newest book, The Demon Within, Monday. I’m working on last minute edits, but I will have the book available to order this weekend.
I’m so excited. I’ve worked on this book on and off again for a number of years, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share my book with you. Isn’t the cover gorgeous!
I loved researching for this story, learning the lore for both demons and angels and how much is different yet the same all over the world.
When the balance in the world is threatened, human survival rests in the hands of two unlikely saviors, a disgraced angel and a reformed demon.
As a punishment for failing his duty as an angel, Ruman finds himself encased in stone in the form of a guardian statue. Every few decades he is given a chance to repent. And fails. Until the totally unsuitable Caly Sawyer accidentally brings him back to life. Nothing is going to prevent him from gaining his freedom, especially some willfully stubborn human determined to kill him.
Caly doesn’t trust the mysterious stranger who came out of nowhere and risked his life for hers. As a demon hunter, she knows there is something not quite human about the sexy bastard. Her ability to detect demons is infallible. She should know. She used to be one.
War is brewing between demons and humans. The demon infection that Caly had always considered a curse might just be the key to their survival…if Ruman can keep her alive long enough. Despite the volatile attraction between her and her sexy protector, Caly’s determined to do whatever it takes to keep everyone alive. The more Ruman learns about his beautiful charge, the more he questions his duty and loyalty…and dreads the call to return home. If they can’t learn to trust each other in time, one of them will die.
Here is a little sneak peek of my hero. I hope you enjoy!
When the last of the life-draining light dimmed on the horizon, the stone encasing him softened agonizingly slow, regardless of the fact it could’ve only been seconds. A roar escaped his throat, and his limbs snapped free from the stone’s perpetual hold.
He lifted his head and arched his back until the stretch and pull of muscles screamed for mercy.
The terrible pain was delicious after decades of nothingness.
As if he’d rolled in a pile of nettles, his skin burned and tingled with enough force to yank the breath from his body.
He knelt and touched the pool of congealed blood near his boot. Lifting his hand to his nose, he inhaled deeply, memorizing the smell of his savior, the one person guaranteed to free him.
If he didn’t f*ck it up again.
The smell of sunshine filled his lungs, and he closed his eyes to savor the sensations around him.
The smell of humans lingered in the area.
Then the bittersweet stench of demon suffused him. His body snapped taut, and a wave of fury engulfed him.
He jumped off the pedestal and paused, scenting the air, then took off at a speed that blurred his surroundings. Adrenaline surged through his system, and he lengthened his stride further until his muscles burned. The path seemed to part in welcome, and he flowed over the forest floor.
No way in hell would he let his savior die before he had a chance to redeem himself.
The path diverged in two directions.
Indecision struck, and he hesitated. The scent of his charge suffocated under the foul odor of too many demons.
He couldn’t choose wrong.
Not when his salvation stood in the balance.
Making a snap decision, he headed left toward the greatest concentration of demons. And one step closer to the chance of regaining everything he’d lost.
