What I’m reading…

Posted July 08, 2012, under Books, Paranormal, Reading

I’ve had both of these books on my wish list for a while. I finally bought them, but then lost them in the pile of my books. I was looking for a shorter, quicker read this week. Something paranormal. Something that I can get lost in for a few hours. I think both of these books fit the bill.

Here are the blurbs:

If Angels Burn ~

Dr. Alexandra Keller is Chicago’s most brilliant reconstructive surgeon. Michael Cyprien is New Orleans’s most reclusive millionaire—and in desperate need of Dr. Keller’s skills.

Beneath the foundation of a mansion in the heart of the Garden District, Alexandra will perform an illegal surgery. Her patient’s disfigurement is beyond medical repair. But his boyd’s ability to recuperate from his wounds borders on the miraculous.

Alexandra knows Michael Cyprien is no ordinary patient. Intrigued by how his remarkable physiology might benefit medical science, she is even more compelled by his presence—and the mystery surrounding him and his associates, a cadre of immortals who call themselves the Darkyn…

Pride Mates ~

To most, they are animals—even when in human form. They are to be collared and kept on the fringes of society, scorned because they are feared, hated for their extraordinary powers. And DA Kim Fraser has to go right into the heart of their lair.

It’s her job to defend those in need. But there’s absolutely nothing defenseless about Liam Morrissey. His soft Irish lilt and feline grace can’t disguise his sheer strength. Nor can the silver chain at his throat, designed to control the aggression of his kind, completely reassure her that this man has been tamed.

Yet when a feral shifter begins to stalk them both, Liam is the only one she trusts with her life. She’ll let him claim her—for her protection, for her pride, and for a passion that knows no bounds.

Which one would you choose? Does one sound better than the other? What are you reading for this week?

Stop by Friday to find out which one I chose.

I’ve read both series and while I like the Darkyn series, I flipping love the Shifters Unbound series. I’m just saying.. Sean Morrissery *Le Sigh* Can’t wait for the next one that will feature Erik, he’s in later books. Definitely good to start with the first one in the series though because it sets up the whole shifter society and how they live.

I only managed to fit in two this past week, which were Echos at Dawn, Maya Banks latest in the KGI series featuring Rio, and Pamela Clare’s last release for the Mackinnon Rangers, Defiant. Both were so very awesome, too. Worth the wait. :)

I really need to pick up Maya Banks KGI series and Pamela Claire’s as well.

I haven’t read either, and I’ve heard such good things about them!

As for the face-off, I had a hard time choosing. I had to read the first few pages of each book to see which one grabbed me more. I don’t want to spoil it, so you’ll have to wait until Friday to find out which one I selected. ;)
