I want my next book released by the end of December, so I put myself on a schedule.
But now I find myself struggling. I’m half done with the book, but in order to keep my schedule, I need to write another 30,000 words in two weeks. I’ve done it before. Heck, I know what happens for the next 20,000 words.
I should be able to reach my goal, easy-peasy.
But every time I sit down, I never seem to get enough done. I feel like a cat watching the birds out the window, easily distracted, not wanting to miss the golden goose. I have a three day weekend coming up (minus a small appointment). I’m going to unplug everything, not connect to the internet, play some music and write through the night.
I’m determined to get it done. Whish me luck!!
Do you challenge yourself? What do you use to keep yourself on track?

You and I are in the same boat. And yes, I challenge myself, but sometime those challenges don’t work. Like you I need to buckle down and write. I need this rough draft finished before the end of September so it can then go through at least two rounds of edits.
Good luck!
I have today off, so I’m going to be writing all weekend (I hope). Thanks for the support!
Good luck to reach your goal!
Hang in there, you two. You can get it done. Think of what you are trying to accomplish and why you are doing it. Give yourself a pep talk. And does it make any difference to know there are people out there waiting for your next books?
Obviously, you can’t rush it. Otherwise it might not turn out the way you wanted it to. Personally, I just keep focusing on why I’m writing. Not to say that helps either, but it does give me a bit of a jolt and kicks me into action.
I wish you both luck. And I’m one of those people waiting for your next releases. Just saying.
Hah, Melissa, you’re just what I needed.
Now if we could just bottle it. lol
