DESCRIPTION:
The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they’ve discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. Unfortunately, the radioactive mineral is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class comprised of the super rich and immortal soon evolves. The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe.
Two-thousand-year-old Ricardo Sanchez, vampire and rogue pilot of the space cruiser, El Cazador, can’t resist two things: gorgeous women and impossible jobs. When beautiful Skylar Rossaria approaches him to break a prisoner out of the Collective’s maximum security prison on Trakis One, Rico jumps at the chance. Being hunted by the Collective has never been so dangerous–or so fun!
Review:
I read the first couple of pages of each book and selected this one because it started with an intriguing fight scene. This book wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be something dark, a touch of urban fantasy. I didn’t realize it was pure romance with a taste of SciFi. It took me a while to switch gears.
I loved Rico from page one. He was charming with a touch of danger, an old time rogue who wasn’t sorry for it. Then he met an unstoppable force in Skylar. When those two collided, sparks flared. Both of them were ruthless, willing to do whatever it took to get what they wanted. But what was a guy to do when the woman he wanted has other things on her mind? Well, change it, of course.
Though I loved the back and forth between Sklyar and Rico, the instant lust felt too sudden for me. The author made up for it later with a drawn out romance that made their love ring true. The growing tension between them kept the story moving when the plot thinned. The science portion was well done, but a little light on the details for a true SciFi. If you’re looking for a spicy romance with a charming rogue, a daring heroine, you’ll like this book.

Oh, this sounds like SUCH a fun read! I cannot wait to read it! Definitely adding to my to-read list! Thanks so much for sharing. :3
This book was fun to read! It was a good choice for last week.
Here’s hoping for something good this week.
Great review, Stacy.
Thanks, Ella! It’s been a while since I’ve read a space opera. I’ve missed them.
I really need to get my latest reviews on Goodreads. I’ve been falling behind lately.
Awesome review, Stacey. I still say the year throws me off on this one.
I know what you mean…my mind wanted to read it as a typo. lol
It’s hard to believe that humans would be around that long, but we’ve been around longer, I guess. How crazy is that!
