DESCRIPTION:
“I am Britannia. I am your protector. I will fend off the hungry hordes of undead hands that reach toward you. I am your steadfast defender. I will stand between you and the zombie masses as they try to taste your flesh. I am strong, unyielding, and dedicated to your survival. All I ask from you… is your blood.”

A 500 year bloody game of vengeance will need to be put on hold if vampires are to survive the zombie uprising. Bitter enemies, Britannia and Nicholas must work together to save un-infected humans, delivering them to a stronghold in Scotland.

Unable to drink the zombie blood, vampires need humans to stay alive. But will they tell the survivors who they are, and what they want from them? Will Britannia be able to hold back her vengeance? Is survivor Josh the reincarnation of Britannia’s murdered true love? And can she bring herself to deliver him to the safe hold?

Survival instincts run deep, but bad blood can run deeper.

REVIEW:
Bad Blood started off with Britannia stalking her prey…a fellow vampire. I loved the action and drama and was immediately sucked into the story. Britannia had a tragic start to her life as a vampire, and I immediately found myself sympathizing with her.

Nicholas came off as an ass for his treatment of Britannia, but as the story unfolded, I began to understand him more and more. He honestly seemed to have feelings for his protégée Britannia. Unfortunately, he’d been a vampire a very long time, which translated to him being a very manipulative b*stard. By the end of the book, I found him a bit enduring. Which left his actions…or lack of actions…half way through the last fight scene a little confused. Why did he just leave?

The villain was just brilliant. What’s better than a friend-turned-enemy who knows your every move?! Part of Britannia and Nicholas didn’t really believe he couldn’t be saved until it was almost too late. The action and fight scenes kept me glued to the pages. The interactions between the characters added another dimension to the book. Since the story was told from Britannia’s view, the majority of the humans were portrayed as sheep, until she began to get to know them more. For the first time since she’d been turned into a vampire, she began to let other people in her life…and she wasn’t sure she liked it.

I was surprised at how quickly the world change at the zombie apocalypse. While the plot to Bad Blood was interesting, the zombies in the book were nothing special. I think I was expecting more visceral emotions and gore…more horror or something. The characters were vampires, so they didn’t really have a mortal fear of them, and the zombies became really nothing more than fodder for them to kill. The only downside to the book was it ended way too quick! While the book gave us a whole story arc, it seemed more like an episode than a full length novel. I found myself fascinated by Bad Blood and would love to eventually continue this series if the price lowers to match its novella size.
