Good News...

It’s been forever since I’ve posted on my blog…my bad! But the good news—I’ve been busy. Academy of Assassins has officially been sent off to the editor. I should get the first round of edits back next week. Whoohoo!

The book ended up nearly twice as long as I originally planned, but I think you’ll really enjoy Morgan and her protectors. Think Gargoyles, Hellhounds, Wraiths, Titans, Gremlins and so much more. :) Here is a sneak peek of the blurb…

ONLY ONE THING STANDS BETWEEN HUMANS AND THE DEADLY SUPERNATURAL WORLD…THE ACADEMY OF ASSASSINS.

Abandoned as a child and unable to remember her past, Morgan was raised as a hunter, one of an elite group of fighters sworn to protect humans from the dangerous paranormal creatures who invade our world…creatures such as herself. Her life changes the day she’s summoned to the Academy of Assassins, a school that trains witches and hunters how to eradicate paranormals who prey on humans. Her first assignment—find and eliminate the killer who is using the Academy as his own personal hunting ground.

Three witches have died in circumstances disturbingly similar to her own disappearance over a decade ago…one Morgan barely survived. As she delves deeper into the investigation, she runs afoul of the devilishly handsome security expert, Kincade, and his maddeningly charming team members. They make her forget her duty, make her wish for something other than the bleak future of violence and death most lone hunters face.

As Morgan closes in on the killer, she will need to dodge assassination attempts, avoid romantic entanglements with the security team—who drive her to distraction with their overprotectiveness—while keeping the infection of dark magic in her blood contained. To survive, Morgan must unearth her missing memories before someone finishes the job they started so long ago—killing her and unleashing a plague that will consume the world.

Where has all the time gone...

Good gracious! Where has all the time gone? I can’t believe it’s been so long since I last posted! *ducks head in shame*

The good news is I’ve been busy writing and enjoying the heck out of Academy of Assassins. I just left my characters trapped in a warehouse infested with gremlins. Very fun! Unfortunately, the book is taking longer than I expected. *sigh*

I’ve also been enjoying my summer. I live out in the country, so new critters visit us every day. (It also helps that the front yard is full of clover. Who would’ve guessed it was so popular?!) Every morning, birds swoop over the fields. There are so many, I’m amazed that they don’t crash into each other. Today, I even saw two tiny baby bunnies on my driveway when I was on my way to work. When I arrived home, dozens of dozens of butterflies were flitting about the yard. During my afternoon walk, they danced and swooped and twisted about me. Very beautiful. (Please don’t tell me they are some nasty bug. Leave me some illusions. lol) I would’ve tried recording them, but the buggers are fast! The video would be nothing more than streaked images of my front yard. *ha*

And in the evening, the place is alive with fireflies. It’s very peaceful watching them zigzag to and fro…not to mention seeing the dog flipping out trying to chomp on them. Thankfully, he’s a tad too slow. (I won’t mention all the bats that twist and dart over my head. *grin*) How has your summer been? Have you done anything fun?

Review: Shattered Pack (Alpha Girl Book 6) by Aileen Erin

I began the Alpha Girl Series with the first book a few years ago. Once I start a book, I hate not finishing it. With Becoming Alpha, I remember nearly putting the book down. Gasp! Thankfully, I persisted, and this series has become one of my favorites!

DESCRIPTION:
Meredith Molloney never thought she’d find a mate, let alone someone like Donovan Murry—one of the most powerful Alpha werewolves alive. Now that she’s no longer cursed and the evil Luciana Alvarez has been taken care of, she thinks life will finally settle down. Boy, she has never been so wrong.

In the middle of the night, Donovan gets a call telling him that his pack has gone to pieces. The news that his second in command has been found brutally murdered has Donovan packing his bags for Ireland, but the last thing Meredith wants to do is go with him. Cosette just warned her that the Irish pack isn’t so happy about Donovan’s choice in mates.

But Meredith’s never let a few angry wolves stop her, and she’s not about to start now. She’s faced down much worse the past few months. But when she gets there, she finds that it’s not just an angry pack that stands in the way between her and her Full Moon Ceremony with Donovan.

Meredith is thrust into a deadly game of pack politics, one a fey beast has happily joined. When the magic and dust settle, she knows she’ll either have everything that she wants or lose it all.

REVIEW:
I’m a huge fan of the Alpha Girl Series, but I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy the series now that it has moved away from the main couple that we’ve come to love. I shouldn’t have worried. Like the last two books, Aileen Erin managed to pull it off!

Meredith and Donovan are a great couple! I love the way the author wove Meredith’s troubled past throughout the series. Her character growth made me instantly empathize with her—she doesn’t know the meaning of defeat! She was the perfect mate for Donovan. I love the mystery of Donovan. Unfortunately, I expected to learn more about him, but he came off as more of a secondary character. *pouts* He was supposed to be the most dominate alpha werewolf ever, but Meredith showed him up in every scene. While I understand this was her story, it was his as well, and his lack of alphaness was a little disappointing. Thankfully, Aileen Erin managed to expertly combine action and fantastic characters with an unforgettable love story to redeem the book.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and gobbled it down in one sitting. The story might have developed a little slow, but I found the ending was well worth the wait! If you enjoy the Alpha Girl Series, you won’t want to miss this edition. I can’t wait for the next book, where we move back to the main couple…releasing next year! *whimpers*
