Worse than that, Price’s newly discovered magic is dangerously out of control, and her own is trying to kill her. If she succeeds, she makes herself an even bigger target. If she fails, everybody she cares about dies.

But the shadows hold danger even Riley will never see coming . . . .

REVIEW:

I’m a huge fan of The Diamond City Magic Novels. I love dark urban fantasy books, and this series is one of the best. Diana Pharaoh Francis writing is right on point and highly entertaining. What I enjoy most about these books is the unpredictability of the story line. Riley is snarky, smart and doesn’t take sh*t from anyone, not to mention she has a unique magical talent that can be nearly unstoppable…when it’s working. What makes her a complete package is her vulnerability and her compassion for others. The supporting cast of characters are fantastic, their foibles highly entertaining, the tension between them adding another dimension to the story.

I had a little trouble getting into this book, the first chapter didn’t capture me immediately, but I’m glad I kept reading. The rest of the book well made up for it…until I reached the harsh cliffhanger ending. The story just stopped in the middle of the action—I wasn’t ready for the book to be over yet! Despite the rocky beginning and abrupt ending, I enjoyed getting to know Riley, Price and their group of friends again in their latest adventure. I can’t wait for the next book. These novels are a part of a series and cannot be read as a stand alone.

Review: Shattered Pack (Alpha Girl Book 6) by Aileen Erin

I began the Alpha Girl Series with the first book a few years ago. Once I start a book, I hate not finishing it. With Becoming Alpha, I remember nearly putting the book down. Gasp! Thankfully, I persisted, and this series has become one of my favorites!

Meredith Molloney never thought she’d find a mate, let alone someone like Donovan Murry—one of the most powerful Alpha werewolves alive. Now that she’s no longer cursed and the evil Luciana Alvarez has been taken care of, she thinks life will finally settle down. Boy, she has never been so wrong.

In the middle of the night, Donovan gets a call telling him that his pack has gone to pieces. The news that his second in command has been found brutally murdered has Donovan packing his bags for Ireland, but the last thing Meredith wants to do is go with him. Cosette just warned her that the Irish pack isn’t so happy about Donovan’s choice in mates.

But Meredith’s never let a few angry wolves stop her, and she’s not about to start now. She’s faced down much worse the past few months. But when she gets there, she finds that it’s not just an angry pack that stands in the way between her and her Full Moon Ceremony with Donovan.

Meredith is thrust into a deadly game of pack politics, one a fey beast has happily joined. When the magic and dust settle, she knows she’ll either have everything that she wants or lose it all.

REVIEW:
I’m a huge fan of the Alpha Girl Series, but I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy the series now that it has moved away from the main couple that we’ve come to love. I shouldn’t have worried. Like the last two books, Aileen Erin managed to pull it off!

Meredith and Donovan are a great couple! I love the way the author wove Meredith’s troubled past throughout the series. Her character growth made me instantly empathize with her—she doesn’t know the meaning of defeat! She was the perfect mate for Donovan. I love the mystery of Donovan. Unfortunately, I expected to learn more about him, but he came off as more of a secondary character. *pouts* He was supposed to be the most dominate alpha werewolf ever, but Meredith showed him up in every scene. While I understand this was her story, it was his as well, and his lack of alphaness was a little disappointing. Thankfully, Aileen Erin managed to expertly combine action and fantastic characters with an unforgettable love story to redeem the book.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and gobbled it down in one sitting. The story might have developed a little slow, but I found the ending was well worth the wait! If you enjoy the Alpha Girl Series, you won’t want to miss this edition. I can’t wait for the next book, where we move back to the main couple…releasing next year! *whimpers*

Electric Night - New Release

After long last, I’m pleased to announce the release of the fifth book in my urban fantasy series, Electric Night!

This is my tenth book (yay!), but I swear it was cursed. Every step of the production was delayed, but I think it turned out all the better in the end. Isn’t the cover gorgeous?!

Electric Night

AN INSIDIOUS EVIL ENDANGERS THE FRAGILE PEACE BETWEEN THE HUMANS AND PARANORMALS. IF WAR ERUPTS, NEITHER SIDE WILL EMERGE UNSCATHED.

Raven will go to any extreme to locate the missing member of her pack, even confront her murky past that still has the power to haunt her. A wild hunt leads her to an isolated mountaintop, where she and her pack are taken captive, and she learns that her nightmares are all-to real and more dangerous than ever. Every minute is a struggle to stay alive against the humans who would use her kind as nothing more than test subjects in their fanatical search to create the ultimate weapon against paranormals.

EVERY MINUTE IS A STRUGGLE TO STAY ALIVE…

Determined no one else should suffer the tortures she endured as a child, Raven risks everything to destroy the labs, even bringing her pack to the brink of annihilation. If she can’t make peace with her past, she will not only lose her pack, but incite an all-out war between humans and paranormals.

Here is a short excerpt for you to enjoy:

Raven’s pulse raced at the prospect of seeing Durant again, her palms damp as she anxiously watched the door like a dog watching for his owner to return home.

Another ten minutes passed before two shifters entered, one male and one female, dragging a third between them. Wild energy poured off the two guards, their aggressiveness spilling into the cavern.

After a quick perusal, her attention dropped to the nearly unconscious man between them.

Durant.

Her throat tightened at the sight of his still form, apprehension churning like acid in her gut.

His head hung forward, as if it was too heavy for him to lift. His hair was in disarray, the stripes she so loved more pronounced, as if he was fighting to keep his tiger from taking over.

The female’s grip turned brutal, her claws slipping free to slice into Durant’s shoulder, a twisted smirk of pure malice lighting up her face, clearly enjoying degrading someone already rendered helpless. The scent of Durant’s blood filled the air, and Raven clenched her fists, so furious she didn’t feel her claws slip free and slice into her palms.

When the woman shoved Durant, he dropped to his knees. His head slumped forward to rest on his chest, and Raven could hear nothing but the dragon roaring in her head.

She launched forward, slamming into the glass.

Magic shimmered in the air of the cell, and the symbols began to glow until they lit up like Christmas lights. Pain struck deep as her touch triggered the spell, the attack like someone trying to peel off her flesh.

A pleased smile crossed the female jailer’s face, her plan clearly to get a reaction out of Raven, along with her eagerness to cause harm.

But Raven didn’t relent, didn’t back away, her rage taking over. The dragon began to wake, a rumble building in her chest, until the glass beneath her palm rattled. One by one, the symbols seared into the glass blinked out of existence, leaving a charred image behind.

When she didn’t drop to the floor, withering in pain, everyone stilled.

Very slowly, the reinforced glass began to crack.
