We lost a member of our family just over a month ago. Our beloved Rex.
We’ve lost a number of animals over the years, but Rex hit me hard. He was the first dog we let stay in the house. I hadn’t realized how much he’d become a part of our life until he was gone. He was so incredibly smart, knowing from just an expression or a gesture what was happing in the human world around him.
He would walk me to bed every night, staying until I was asleep, then get up to check the house to make sure it was safe. He would be the first thing I see when I wake and be excited to see me every day when I came home. When I had a bad day, he would cuddle his 120 pound self in my lap and cheer me up with his smile. Almost everyday, I still expect to see him waiting for me with his goofy smile and wagging tail. He loved us unconditionally.
He would follow us into hell just to be at our side. A true companion and friend.
You are missed…
